Re-selling Olympic tickets

While it may be tempting to sell unwanted Olympic tickets to make some cash, it is actually a criminal offence.

Selling an Olympic ticket is illegal unless you have been authorised to do so by the London Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games (LOCOG) and can result in a criminal record, a fine of up to £5000 or a prison sentence.

Selling or buying tickets through an unauthorised source can have far reaching consequences and compromise the security of London 2012. Any person could end up with your ticket and their motives may not be honest.

If you want to sell unwanted tickets to an Olympic event, visit the London 2012 website to find out how you can sell them back to LOCOG so they can be redistributed appropriately.

If you know anyone who is trying to sell their tickets illegally or you find a website that is offering them illegally, please report them to Essex Police's Olympic Intelligence Team by calling 101.
