Being a family liaison officer
Dc Ray O'Hare talks about his role as a family liaison officer
and how it feels to enter someone’s home during the lowest point in
their lives.
He speaks about two cases he has been involved with – the
murder of Gary Belben, who was killed by his 17-year-old son
Edward, and the murder of 27-year-old Westley Odger who was stabbed
at a cashpoint.
Edward’s mum Tanya talks about how Ray’s approach helped her in
the days after her husband’s murder in 2007 and Ann Oakes Odger
talks about the importance of having a single point of contact
between the police and the family following a major
incident.
