This has now been done and we appear to have their support.

Deliver leaflets to households in the relevant area (Lawling Avenue). the onus is then on householders to agree to the Make the Commitment pledge and if a sufficient number of positive replies are recieved by Essex County Council then the relevant area will see a temporary reduction in speed limit accompanied by monitoring strips. Should the monitoring strips show that drivers are adhering to the newm reduced limit, then it will remain in place after the trial period ends.

Leaflets have now been delivered to each household in this street. We now await response from the public before any further decision/action can be made.

The required actions of the Police/Highways agency have now been completed as far as possible. The onus is now on the local community to tell us how serious they are about combatting this problem. To date, an insufficient number of positive replies have been recieved. This is ongoing in its nature but we have specifically drawn up Aceptable Behaviour Contacts in a bid to reduce problems.

Regular patrols have been made in the area and a dedicated incident to visit Heymeads Court at regular intervals has been set up.

The issue of nuisnace youths has been resolved. The main person who was attracting the youths to gather in the flats has been dealt with and temporarilly removed. Upon their return they will be closely monitored to prevent any further issues arising. Secondly, one of the youths who used to gather and ride his moped in the area has now moved to another area of Heybridge and this seems to have reduced problems in the area. This coupled with our dedicated patrols has caused us to consider the problem resolved.
