Priorities for Canvey Local map and area covered

The local community priorities for Canvey are:

We ask: Your local neighbourhood policing team along with our partners want to know the community issues which matter to you. You can come and tell us at one of the events below, submit a web contact form, call the team's mobile phone number or stop them in the street to tell them what matters to you.

You say: The issues you tell us about are taken to a Neighbourhood Action Panel (NAP). At this meeting, representatives from your community will consider all the concerns raised and decide upon prioritised actions.

We deliver: Working together we will address these priorities and keep you updated on progress. Click on your current community priorities above to view their progress and search those already completed. As part of our policing pledge to you, any issues you call us about which are listed as a neighbourhood priority will be attended within 60 minutes when attendance is required.

Actions and updates for Canvey

Christmas is approaching rapidly and the shops are showing signs of increased activity. Unfortunately festive shopping and goodwill are not going to be the only activities that will increase over the next few weeks. Shoplifters and purse snatchers always make the most of Christmas. As you go around the stores engrossed in buying presents it’s really easy to forget the whereabouts of your purse or wallet.
Ladies – as always, may I remind you that often purses are left sitting on the top of your bag whilst you browse the shelves. Keep your bags zipped and close to you and in most cases your cash will be quite safe. It really is as simple as that!
Also, when shopping, don’t keep returning to your vehicle to deposit your purchases in the boot. Thieves look out for that kind of thing and the moment you return to the shops is when they’ll strike.

Whilst on the subject of shops – Canvey town centre is currently beleaguered by errant cyclists. I know this isn’t a new problem but it does appear to be getting worse. Cycling on the pavements in the town will not be tolerated. Officers will be actively targeting nuisance cyclists, so beware. Parents, once again I appeal to you to speak to your children about this issue. There are many elderly people and toddlers about the town and it is only a matter of time before someone is injured. If you’re in the town – please walk your bikes.

Neighbourhood Action Panel meetings are regularly taking place and the first half hour is now open to the general public. It’s your chance to come along and give us your views, opinions and suggestions on what problems you feel are at the forefront. The next Winter Gardens NAP meeting is at the Baptist Church in Hilton Road on November, 30 commencing at 7pm. All are welcome for the first 30 minutes.

The main Canvey NAP is on December 16 at 7.30 pm and is held at the Sea Scouts hall by King Georges playing field.

You are welcome to attend these and we look forward to seeing you there.

Have a happy run up to Christmas.

PCSO 71333 Steve Hollands.
