Police integrity and conduct
Following a number of Freedom of Information (FOI) requests Essex Police, and the Police & Crime Commissioner (PCC) for Essex, have accepted the need for publication of data surrounding the issues of Police Integrity & Conduct, and the PCC has already taken the step of publishing some data, see links below:
Further information is published by the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC).
Essex Police Professional Standards Department produce a quarterly report on behalf of the Chief Constable which outlines the background to complaints, misconduct and other matters for the attention of the Police and Crime Commissioner of Essex. These documents provide data which provide answers to most of the questions we are asked on a regular basis and can be found here. This webpage will be updated on a regular basis (at least annually).
Essex Police publishes the names of most officers and staff dismissed as a result of criminal convictions but will not identify those that are dismissed through disciplinary processes unless there is an overwhelming public interest to do so. Consequently further detail on the cases mentioned, including the identification of the individuals concerned, is unlikely to be provided.
