The Essex Police Security Systems Office is responsible for managing Policy relating to security systems including intruder and hold up alarms, stolen vehicle tracking equipment and remotely monitored CCTV systems.
We follow the National Police Chiefs Council (NPCC) Police Requirements and Response to Security Systems Policy, which can be viewed on the Secured by Design Website (www.securedbydesign.com). On the Home Page select ‘Security Systems Policy’ from the blue boxes immediately below ‘Home’ on blue band at the head of the page. This will take you to the Police Requirements and Response to Security Systems pages and will enable you to call up the entire document including, Appendix F, Appendix F Key or Appendix G. The document can be downloaded as an Acrobat PDF file.
The National Policy when originally published in 2000 was described as a living document and is therefore constantly under review. It is regularly updated to reflect developments in technology and procedures agreed by the Security Systems Working Group in consultation with the Industry.
Download Appendix A
Enables Police Forces to clarify how particular aspects or local variations of the Policy are applied within each Police District. Companies wishing to install security systems for police response within the Essex Police District should read the Policy in conjunction with the Appendix A published on the Essex Police website.
The following often used Appendices can be downloaded individually from the Secured by Design Website.
Policy Agreement Form. Security System Companies that wish to become registered with Essex Police as a compliant installer or a monitoring centre, should complete the Application Form (Appendix B) from the Essex Police website. The completed Form should then be forwarded to the Security Systems Office, Essex Police HQ, PO Box 2, Springfield, Chelmsford, Essex CM2 6DA together with a copy of their Certificate of Accreditation from the National Security Inspectorate (NSI), or the Security Systems Alarms Inspection Board (SSAIB). If your company is based outside the Essex Police District we shall also require a copy of the letter from your Home Force to confirm they have you recorded as a compliant installer or as a monitoring centre.
Disclosure of Conviction. Compliant companies with an installation Branch Office located within the Essex Police District may use these Forms to apply, for criminal conviction checks to be carried out on potential employees on Police National Computer (PNC) and ensure their employment would not conflict with Clause 2.3.2.b.
