Have you ever visited a historic house, old church or ancient monument? Heritage Watch aims to protect historical sites and artefacts around Essex from crime.
Building on the success of other watch schemes in Essex, Heritage Watch is a partnership between agencies who share a duty to protect our heritage and members of the public who want to support the history of their community.
Heritage crime is the term given to any offence which harms the value of heritage assets and their surroundings. Sadly, it can lead to the loss of a piece of historic forever.
That's why a number of agencies have got together to protect our county's heritage for future generations. Full details about the scheme can be found by downloading the Heritage Watch pack.
Reporting heritage crime
You can help protect our county's heritage by reporting heritage crime to us by calling:
- 999 if a crime is in progress
- 101 if a crime has already taken place and suspects are no longer present
