Rural crime affects individuals and businesses and includes the theft of livestock, plant machinery and fuel.
Although crime occurs less in rural areas, it does still exist and impacts on large sections of the community.
Essex Police's police officers, specialist wildlife officers and rural Special Constables are working to combat rural crime by:
- Improving police engagement and the provision of information within rural communities.
- Improving the skills and deployment of our rural policing teams.
- Ensuring the further development of Rural Watch schemes.
Essex Police also has a force wildlife officer supported by specialist wildlife officers covering our three local policing areas; North, West and South. They specialise in investigating wildlife and environmental crime and work closely with the RSPCA to protect wildlife.
Our officers are working to reduce rural crime but we're asking residents to help make life as difficult as possible for opportunists criminals.
