The district of Basildon is in the south of Essex. It is approximately 42 square miles and has a population of around 187,000 people. Basildon is east of Central London, and borders the Essex districts of Chelmsford, Rochford, Castle Point, Thurrock and Brentwood. Both the A127 and the A13 run through the district. Its largest town is also called Basildon.
