I am making a request under the Freedom of Information Act.
Please could you tell me how many people you have detained under section 136 of the mental health act between (and including) January 2018 and June 2021, broken down by month?
Please could you tell me, also broken down by month, how many of the people detained under section 136 were released and detained again under section 136 within 36 hours of the first detainment?

Having completed enquiries within Essex Police in respect of Section 1(1)(a), Essex Police does hold information relating to your request. Under Section 1(1)(b) the below and attached have been provided in relation to your request:

Released and Detained Again: This was calculated by taking the difference in time between the first created offence date for each person (during 01 January 2018 to 30 June 2021 period) and any subsequent created offence dates for each person (in that same period). This does not check each occurrence for another within 36 hours. Displayed by offence created date.
