The Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOIA) places two duties on public authorities:
Unless exemptions apply, the first duty (at Section 1(1)(a)) is to confirm or deny whether the information specified in a request is held.
The second duty (at Section 1(1)(b)) is to disclose information that has been confirmed as being held.
However, where exemptions are relied upon (Section 17 of FOIA), there is a requirement to provide the applicant with an explanation either:
- a) stating the fact
- b) detailing the exemption(s) in question and
- c) why the exemption applies (if not apparent).
Information Request
Please could you provide me with the number of disability-related hate crimes reported between 1st January 2019 and 31st December 2019, broken down by the day they were reported.
To be clear, I would like the total number for each day separately, so a sample dataset could have every date in 2019 in the first column and the number of reports made in the second column. If you could provide this in excel, or other spreadsheet, format, that would be great.
Additionally, if possible, could you further break down these numbers into offence type (public order, violence against the person with injury, violence against the person without injury, stalking, harassment, criminal damage, arson, other etc.). I would also like this data at a daily level. However, if that is not possible, then I would still like the first half of the request
