Seizures of Dangerous Dogs 2019 to 2023
January 2019 to October 2023
Provides the annual numbers of dog attack incidents between January 2019 and October 2023 and numbers of dogs seized, seized dogs by recorded breed and seized dogs that were destroyed between January 2019 and June 2023. Also provides the numbers of offences recorded under the following Home Office codes between April 2015 and October 2023:
008/21 - Owner of a dog allowing it to be dangerously out of control in public place and cause injury
008/22 - Dog causing injury in a private place

Notes
- Dog attack incident figures are available from January 2019 onwards. They are derived from investigations recorded on the STORM incident recording system and the Athena crime recording system. These are more comprehensive than offences recorded under the 008/21 and 008/22 codes.
- The incidents include dog-on-dog attacks and the fear or apprehension of being injured or actual injury against humans.
- Dog breed information is only available for seized dogs and is not comprehensively recorded. Dog breed information is not available for dogs believed to be involved in dog attack incidents.
