Having completed enquiries within Essex Police in respect of Section 1(1)(a), Essex Police does hold information relating to your request, Essex Police can confirm in respect of Section 1(1)(b) the following data:
Caveat: The data is correct as at 15 November 2021.
1. How many full time staff employed within this unit in last financial year.
There are 4 Constables and 1 Sergeant. There is also 1 Constable who is part time. The total full time equivalent is 5.75 and the headcount is 6.
The Police Service is fluid and Officer numbers are likely to fluctuate based on operational requirements and intelligence led policing, indeed deployable resources can be drawn in from elsewhere, including other forces, if demand dictates. The figures provided, therefore, are a historic snapshot at a point in time, and are not indicative of the force overall capability, which continuously changes.
2. Ranks of full time staff employed as above.
The ranks are Constable and Sergeant.
3. How many hours spent patrolling on water in last financial year.
Overall, 609 hours since April 2021 between our 3 vessels. However, this does not take into account if we visit a Marina or drop anchor while on patrol. The engine would be turned off, however, we are still on the water and on patrol.
4. Engine hours accrued by each Essex Police boat in last financial year.
RHIB – 188 hours, Launch – 378 hours, PWC – 43 hours.

Please note although data can be extracted from a number of sources via database queries, the results may be subject to inaccuracies.
