1. How many missing persons cases have been filed (from January 2016-June 2021) in your Police department?
1i. Within this, could you split it up by Ethnicity (specifically how many are Caucasian, Asian and Black)?
1ii. Could you also split the data up by Gender (but I would like to know how many are Black Males, White Females, etc)?
2. Could you tell me of the number of missing Black people filed in your Police department from 2016-2021, how many were under the age of 18?

Having completed enquiries within Essex Police in respect of Section 1(1)(a), Essex Police does hold information relating to your request, Essex Police can confirm in respect of Section 1(1)(b) the following data:
Caveats: The data is correct as at 21 July 2021.
Date Period: 01 January 2016 to 30 June 2021.
The number of people reported missing calculated as a count of Person ID and not Report ID. It is the number of individual missing people and not the number of missing reports. Missing reports would be higher as a person can go missing multiple times.
Ethnicity and Gender: As logged on the COMPACT System.

The Force Information Management Board chaired by the Deputy Chief Constable has oversight of the Force wide programme of work to improve the quality of Force data. This work has identified data quality leads in all key areas of the business including the Crime and Public Protection Command. Liaison between the Force Data Quality Team and the Crime and Public Protection Command lead for data quality will identify and resolve issues through a variety of mechanisms to ensure regular and appropriate supervisory oversight.
