Please can you tell me how many cars the force has written off between Jan 1st 2018 and Dec 31st 2020 and if you have made a claim against your insurance in respect to each case where a vehicle has been written off?
Can you also tell me the full make and model of each car written off

Section 1 of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOIA) places two duties on public authorities. Unless exemptions apply, the first duty at Section 1(1)(a) is to confirm or deny whether the information specified in a request is held. The second duty at Section 1(1)(b) is to disclose information that has been confirmed as being held. Where exemptions are relied upon Section 17 of FOIA requires that we provide the applicant with a notice which: a) states that fact b) specifies the exemption(s) in question and c) states (if that would not otherwise be apparent) why the exemption applies.

Having completed enquiries within Essex Police in respect of Section 1(1)(a), Essex Police does hold information relating to your request. Under Section 1(1)(b) the below has been provided in relation to your request: This data is correct as at 1st February 2021.
Zero claims have been made against our insurance as our cover is third party only.
The data in respect of our ‘write offs’ is recorded per financial year from April 2018 to date. We have also provided Uneconomical to repair vehicles.
April 2018 – March 2019 – 12 Write-offs and 2 Uneconomical to repair
April 2019 – March 2020 – 17 Write-offs and 5 Uneconomical to repair
April 2020 – February 2021 – 17 Write-offs and 4 Uneconomical to repair
