I am writing to request information under the Freedom of Information Act 2000. In order to assist you with this request, I am outlining my query as specifically as possible.
I am writing to request information regarding the case of Randox Testing Services and Trimega Laboratories, and the consequences of the discovery that tests performed by these companies may have been flawed.
I understand that Randox provided each force with a list of cases that could have been affected.
I would please like to know:
1. How many cases were on this list?
2. After the cases were reviewed by the force, how many were deemed to have been affected by issues around the forensic data?
3. If possible, please provide details of the crimes charged for the cases deemed to have been affected, e.g. how many: a. Murder, b.Manslaughter, c. rape, etc.

Having completed enquiries within Essex Police in respect of Section 1(1)(a), Essex Police does hold information relating to your request, Essex Police can confirm in respect of Section 1(1)(b) the following data:
Caveat: The data is correct as at 18 October 2021.
1. How many cases were on this list?
There were 347 Essex cases on the list.
2. After the cases were reviewed by the force, how many were deemed to have been affected by issues around the forensic data?
We have assumed this relates to confirmation from Forensic Testing. Essex Police do not hold the data and the answer will not be possible until the ongoing re-testing process is completed.
3. If possible, please provide details of the crimes charged for the cases deemed to have been affected, e.g. how many: a. Murder, b. Manslaughter, c. rape, etc.
