Sexual Offences - Referencing Schools & Reports by Under 18’s
2015 to 2021
I am writing to make a request for information to which I am entitled under the Freedom of Information Act.
I would like to request the following information:
How many reports of sexual misconduct, sexual assault and rape involving schools or referred to your police force by schools were there during the following years: 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020 and to date in 2021?
How many reports of sexual misconduct, sexual assault and rape were made by under 18s during the following years: 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020 and to date in 2021?
For each report could I also request:
What was the final outcome (if known) of the report?
Was the gender of the victim (if known)?

Having completed enquiries within Essex Police in respect of Section 1(1)(a), Essex Police does hold information relating to your request, Essex Police can confirm in respect of Section 1(1)(b) the following data:
Caveats:
The data is correct as at 02 August 2021.
The ‘Location Premises Name’ dimension is selected to have a ‘MATCHES PATTERN’ equal to ‘SCHOOL’ or ‘ACADEMY’ or ‘COLLEGE’. By doing this, we have gathered records where the offence location is recorded as being a School or a College. Please note that any keyword search may not be entirely accurate and any results would not necessarily answer your submission, and, therefore, could be highly inaccurate and misleading.
The ‘SEXUAL OFFENCES’ Option was used as the Offence Group to obtain all the relevant reports of Sexual Misconduct, Sexual Assault and Rape Offences.
The results are shown separately for two time periods:
The first period is from 01 January 2015 to 31 March 2015. These records were obtained from one of our old recording systems.
The second period is from 01 April 2015 till 30 June 2021. These records were obtained from one of our current crime recording systems.
There can be multiple victims recorded against a crime report, therefore, the number of victims will be higher than the number of crime reports.
