How many sexual offences were recorded by your police department at schools, in the last three academic years?
- For these alleged offences, please could you let me know the ages of victims, in the last three academic years?
- How many of the suspects of these alleged offences were under 18, in the last three academic years?
Having completed enquiries within Essex Police and in respect of Section 1(1)(a), Essex Police does hold information relating to your request. Under Section 1(1)(b) the below/attached has been provided in relation to your FOI.
Please note:
- We searched upon all Sexual Offences recorded between 01/09/2017 and 31/08/2020 whereby the ‘Location Premises Name’ contained any of the following words:
“SCHOOL”
“COLLEGE”
“ACADEMY”
- The academic years have been calculated as 12 months to the end of August.
- Ages have been calculated using recorded Dates of Birth and the offence Committed Dates.

Section 1 of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOIA) places two duties on public authorities. Unless exemptions apply, the first duty at Section 1(1)(a) is to confirm or deny whether the information specified in a request is held.
