Essex Police offers unique career opportunities to those who join us.
Essex is a very safe county and provides exciting challenges to our officers. Operating across the county in partnership with different agencies and authorities, Essex Police also works in collaboration with Kent Police.
We are currently offering a range of transferee opportunities for:
- Firearms officers
- Uniformed officers
We police one of the longest coastlines in the UK - patrolled by our Marine Unit. There are two airports - Southend and Stansted - as well as numerous airfields and the county is home to an extensive rail network. We operate across 1,405 square miles which borders four counties and four London boroughs, policing an estimated population of 1.72 million people making it the fifth most populous county in England.
Essex Police is a unique force. We operate across a large area but in comparison to other forces, we are relatively small. Our smaller size makes room for people’s personalities to shine through and we pride ourselves on recognising good work. We are a close-knit family that supports each other and we are all determined to deliver the best possible service to the residents of Essex.
We have a number of opportunities to transfer and develop your career. Talk to us about what you want to do and we will put you in touch with experienced officers who can talk to you more about the opportunities we offer and what it is like to work within our team. To arrange this please register with us at: [email protected]
To be eligible to transfer to us, you will:
- be currently serving at the rank of constable in a recognised Home Office police force
- have successfully completed your probationary period
- have an acceptable performance, attendance and disciplinary record
- demonstrate a passion and commitment to policing in Essex
- display full competence against the Competency Values Framework for the appropriate rank
Essex Police requires all transferee applicants to be transferring from Home Office forces and to have successfully completed their probationary period. Once you have passed our initial assessment process we will commence pre-employment checks which consist of a force medical assessment, fitness test and vetting checks. Successful candidates are expected to complete a minimum of 2 years in post unless there are exceptional circumstances.
