12 more drivers convicted following Christmas campaign
Another 12 drivers have been convicted following our Christmas anti-drink and drug driving campaign.

148 people were arrested during the month-long campaign which ran between December 1 and January 1.

We are releasing the details and pictures of those convicted to act as a deterrent to others considering drink or drug driving.

Those convicted are:

Thomas Newman, 60, of Highbridge Street, Waltham Abbey:
  • Arrested at 12.46am on December 2 in Market Square, Waltham Abbey;
  • 10 points on his licence, fined £150, and ordered to pay £85 costs and a £30 victim surcharge for being in charge of a motor vehicle while above the legal alcohol limit.
Luke Smith, 30, of Parkfields, Roydon:
  • Arrested at 12.10am on December 3 in Paringdon Road, Harlow;
  • Disqualified for 20 months, fined £420 and ordered to pay £85 costs and a £42 victim surcharge for drink driving.
Paul Wheeler, 28, of Victoria Road, Ongar:
  • Arrested at 1.24am on December 3 on the A414 in Harlow;
  • Disqualified for 23 months, fined £340 and ordered to pay £85 costs and a £34 victim surcharge for drink driving.
Shekul Islam, 39, of Rainham Road, Rainham:
  • Arrested at 11.58pm on December 5 on the M25 between J27 and J28;
  • Disqualified for 14 months, fined £150 and ordered to pay £85 costs and a £30 victim surcharge for drink driving.
Thomasz Maslowski, 40, of Rayleigh Close, Colchester:
  • Arrested at 7.27pm on December 15 in Rayleigh Close, Colchester;
  • Disqualified for 26 months, told to carry out 150 hours of unpaid work, and ordered to pay £85 costs and a £85 victim surcharge for drink driving.
Robert Donaldson, 63, of London Road, Bishop’s Stortford:
  • Arrested at 2.35pm on December 19 in Cymberline Way, Colchester;
  • Sentenced four weeks in prison suspended for 12 months, disqualified for 60 months, and ordered to pay £85 costs and a £115 victim surcharge for drink driving;
  • Fined £120 and licenced endorsed for driving without insurance;
  • Driving licence endorsed for driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence.
Michael Fairclough, 46, of Eldeland, Basildon:
  • Arrested at 5.30pm on December 20 in Luckyn Lane, Basildon;
  • Disqualified for 12 months, fined £410 and ordered to pay £85 costs and a £41 victim surcharge for drink driving.
Jordan Brazitis, 22, of Thorpe Road, Kirby Cross:
  • Arrested at 1.41am on December 23 at Weeley Roundabout, Weeley;
  • Disqualified for 18 months, fined £240 and ordered to pay £85 costs and a £30 victim surcharge.
Benjamin Merchant, 19, of Fingringhoe Road, Colchester:
  • Arrested at 3.27am on December 23 in Lower Road, Peldon;
  • Disqualified for 16 months, fined £162 and ordered to pay £85 costs and a £33 victim surcharge.
Kieran Broom, 22, of Vaughan Williams Road, Basildon:
  • Arrested at 3.37am on December 23 in Vaughan Wings Road, Basildon;
  • Disqualified for 12 months, fined £130 and ordered to pay £85 costs and a £30 victim surcharge for drink driving.
Elizabeth McCann, 29, of Oak Lane, Billericay:
  • Arested at 1.15am on December 24 in Noak Hill Road, Billericay;
  • Disqualified for 12 months, fined £120 and ordered to pay £50 costs and a £30 victim surcharge for drink driving.
Shaun Ridgwell, 32, of Prykes Drive, Chelmsford:
  • Arrested at 9.30pm on December 25 in London Road, Stanway;
  • Disqualified for 12 months, fined £330 and ordered to pay £85 costs and £33 victim surcharge.
