Robber jailed for three years
A thug who drove into a man then robbed him has been jailed for three years.

Scott Warner drove the Ford EcoSport at speed towards the victim, who was on foot, hitting his leg and knocking him to the ground.

He then stopped the car and ran after the man, who had managed to get to his feet and was attempting to run away.

Warner knocked him to the ground again and demanded money from him then punched and kicked him several times.

The 34-year-old victim gave him £40.

He suffered bruising to a leg and his jaw and a fractured knee cap following the incident in Skelmersdale Road, Clacton, on July 25 last year.

Warner went on the run and was arrested and charged in October.

The 29-year-old, who refused to comment during police interview, appeared at Chelmsford Crown Court on Monday, February 26.

He denied wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm (GBH) but admitted unlawfully and maliciously wounding or inflicting GBH, which was accepted by the Crown. He also admitted robbery and dangerous driving.

Warner, of no fixed address, was jailed for three years for robbery, two years for GBH and one year for dangerous driving, to run concurrently.

He was also banned from driving for four years.

Investigating officer Detective Sergeant Daniel Jeffries, of Clacton CID, said: "This was a nasty and frightening incident and Warner can now reflect on his actions behind bars."
