Basildon: Man arrested in attempted murder investigation

A man is due to appear in court today charged in connection with an incident at Festival Leisure Park, in Basildon.
The incident took place shortly before 4.30am on yesterday morning (Sunday 3 October).
A car had been driven at a group of people and one man was taken to hospital with a serious leg injury.
Shaquille Mathurin, 25, of Magnolia Close, in London, has been charged with GBH with intent, dangerous driving, possession of cannabis and driving without insurance.
He is due to appear at Southend Magistrates’ Court this morning, Monday 4 October.

A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a car was driven at a group of people in Basildon.
We were called to the disturbance at Festival Leisure Park at about 4.30am this morning, Sunday 3 October.
Officers arrived and found the driver of a car had fled the scene.
Following a short search of the area, which was supported by the Essex Police Dog Unit, a 25-year-old man from London was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, dangerous driving and driving whilst unfit through drink or drugs.
He remains in custody for questioning.
One man was taken to hospital for treatment to a serious leg injury.
