Colchester: Man arrested following fatal collision

A man has been arrested following a fatal collision in Colchester.
We were called to reports that a White Mercedes had been in collision with a pedal cyclist on Northern Approach (also known as Turner Road) near to the junction with Bruff Close, around 7pm yesterday, Friday 15 October.
The cyclist, a man in his 30s, was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Despite the best efforts of medical staff, he sadly died a short while later.
A man was arrested in connection with the incident on suspicion of causing death by careless driving and driving whilst unfit through drink or drugs.
He has since been released under investigation.
We need anyone who saw either the vehicle or pedal cycle prior to the collision, the incident itself or anyone with Dash-Cam footage of the collision to please come forward.
