Detectives who launched an investigation into the death of a woman in Braintree have now concluded their enquiries.

Officers were called to Braintree Recreation Ground, in John Ray Street, at 11.30pm on Tuesday, 15 February, following reports of a woman’s body being found.

Her death was initially treated as unexplained, and an investigation was launched.

A post-mortem examination has now been completed.

As a result of the findings, we are satisfied there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding her death.

A file will now be prepared and submitted to the coroner.

 

Wednesday 16 February

We have launched an investigation following the death of a woman in Braintree.

Our officers were called to Braintree Recreation Ground, in John Ray Street, at 11.30pm yesterday, Tuesday, 15 February, following reports the body of a woman had been found.

Her death is currently being treated as unexplained.

Investigating officer, Detective Chief Inspector Stuart Truss, said:

“I appreciate that this may be concerning for people living in the local area, but situations like this are very unusual in Braintree and we have a team of specialist officers working to establish what happened.
“There is likely to be a significant police presence in the area throughout today and tomorrow.
“This is a fast-moving investigation, and my team is pursuing several lines of enquiry.
“I would urge anyone who was in or around Braintree Recreation Ground yesterday evening and saw anything unusual to get in touch with us.”
