Canvey: Woman dies in collision in Somnes Avenue

A woman has died after a collision in Somnes Avenue, Canvey, which took place last night, Tuesday 29 December.

We were called to the scene, near to Waterside Farm Leisure Centre, shortly after 6.45pm.

The road was closed whilst specialist officers investigated the circumstances surrounding the collision, which involved a Vauxhall Corsa. The road was re-opened at 3.30am.

A 35-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and driving whilst unfit through drink or drugs. He remains in custody.

We are also continuing to appeal for witnesses to the collision or anyone with dashcam footage of it to get in touch with us as quickly as possible.

We would particularly like to hear from the driver of a dark coloured saloon car which was travelling in front of the Corsa at the time of the incident.
