Detectives investigating the death of a woman in Colchester have now charged a man with her murder.
Ertan Ersoy, 50, of Wickham Road, Colchester, has been charged with murder and will appear at Colchester Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday 8 June.
We were called to a report of an injured man at an address in Wickham Road shortly after 11.45am on Wednesday 1 June.
Officers arrived and found a man with injuries and woman who was, sadly, pronounced dead a short while later.
We can now name her as Antonella Castelvedere, 52.
Detective Chief Inspector Antony Alcock said:
“Although we have reached the point of charge, our dedicated team of detectives are continuing to gather accounts from witnesses and other evidence.
“My thanks go out to those who have helped us and we would welcome any more information others can offer.
“This was an isolated incident and there is no threat posed to the wider public in Colchester.”

Detectives are continuing to investigate the circumstances around the death of a woman in Colchester.
We were called to concerns for the welfare of woman at an address in Wickham Road shortly after 11.45am yesterday, Wednesday 1 June.
Officers arrived and found a woman seriously injured. Sadly, she later died at the scene.
Officers also found a man injured at the address.
He was arrested on suspicion of murder and was taken to hospital for treatment, where he remains.
Detective Chief Inspector Antony Alcock, of the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate, is leading the investigation.
He said:
“A dedicated team of detectives are continuing to piece together the circumstances which led up to this incident in Colchester.
“As part of that, officers are continuing to gather accounts from people who have come forward to speak to us.
“I would again appeal to anyone who may have information on this incident but is yet to get in contact with us to please come forward, no matter how insignificant you believe your information is.
“And I would also reiterate that our inquiries so far suggest this was an isolated incident and there is no threat posed to the wider public in Colchester.”

“At this stage we don’t believe there is a risk to the wider public and we’re not looking for anyone else in connection with it.
“You will see an increased visible police presence in the area as specialist detectives and staff investigate and uniformed officers provide reassurance.
“I need anyone who saw or heard anything, or has any information to contact my team.”
