Work by specialist detectives who keep your family safe online has put a man behind bars who was found with a library of indecent images of children.
Officers from our Police Online Investigation Team (POLIT) executed a warrant at the home of 42 year-old Warren Grodent in Stansted on 24 June 2020.
They had received information that an IP address at that location had been used to access indecent images of children.
When Grodent was interviewed he admitted regularly using cocaine and receiving indecent images from people on his phone.
When his electronic devices were examined, officers discovered more than 400 videos and dozens of images of children.
He was charged with:
• Three counts of making indecent images of children;
• Three counts of possessing to show or distribute indecent images of a child;
• Two counts of distributing an indecent image of a child;
• Possession of a Class A drug.
At Chelmsford Crown Court in October last year he admitted all nine offences.
At the same court on Thursday (10 February), he was jailed for two years and four months.
He has been put on the Sex Offenders’ Register for 10 years and made subject to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order for 10 years.
Detective Sergeant Samantha Lewin, from POLIT, said:
“Warren Grodent had a library of child abuse – images and videos which are truly sickening.
“Every image and video represents a child being exploited and we cannot tolerate people putting children at risk.
“He now faces the foreseeable future behind bars.”
