Man who hid drugs in fridge and behind sofa is jailed for three years
Rhys Parsons of Melbourne Avenue, Chelmsford, was jailed for three years at Chelmsford Crown Court on Friday 28 January. Parsons had pleaded guilty to possessing Class A and B drugs with intent to supply at an earlier hearing.
Officers executed a drugs warrant at an address off Melbourne Avenue on June 9, 2020.
There, they found a bag of white powder in the kitchen fridge and a carrier bag containing a green herbal substance hidden behind the sofa in the living room.
A further search of the garage, found cannabis.
Tests on the items found identified the 27 grams of white powder as cocaine and the 171 grams of green herbal substance as cannabis buds.
The 24-year-old was voluntarily interviewed on June 29 when he claimed it was all for his own personal use.
Rhys Parsons was charged with possession with intent to supply Class A and Class B drugs and appeared at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court on November 22, 2021.
Police Sergeant Matt Dolby, Chelmsford and Maldon Community Policing Team, said;
“Despite Parsons claiming the drugs were for personal use, there was much more than he could use.
“Thankfully we were able to intercept those drugs making their way into the streets of Chelmsford and potentially causing more problems.
“We will always take action to limit the harm that drugs can cause in the wider community.”
