In the first, we were called to concerns for the welfare of a man in Queen Street just before 3am.
When we arrived, we found a man who had been assaulted. He suffered injuries which are not thought to be life-threatening or life-changing. He was taken to hospital for treatment.
We also received reports of an assault shortly before 3.40am in Red Lion Walk.
We arrived and found a woman who had sustained facial injuries.
She too was taken to hospital for treatment. Her injuries are not thought to be life-threatening or life-changing.
Two men, both aged 23 and from Colchester, have been arrested on suspicion of ABH. They remain in custody for questioning.
At this stage, we are linking the two incidents and we are appealing for witnesses to both assaults and for information on what happened in the lead up to the incidents.
