The final section of our newly refurbished Chelmsford station has now reopened.
The custody facility of the station, which is in the heart of the town centre, reopened today (Friday 17 September) returning Chelmsford to our list of fully operational stations across the county.
The station houses a wide range of our specialist teams, who often work jointly on investigations.
They include teams from our Criminal Investigation Department and Crime and Public Protection Command, including our Domestic Abuse Investigation Teams (DAIT) and Police Online Investigation Team (POLIT).
The station is also used as a base for response officers in our Local Policing teams and officers in our Community Policing teams.
The front counter staff returned to the station earlier this year, which is open to the public from 9am to 5pm Monday to Sunday.
Chief Superintendent Tom Simons said:
“I’m really proud of the facility here at Chelmsford police station and it’s a fantastic work environment for myself and my teams.
“But the important thing is that we’re here in the heart of your community, in Chelmsford town centre, keeping you safe and catching criminals.
“If you need us, contact us either online, via 101, or call us on 999 in an emergency. We’re here to help.”
