We are now in a position to confirm that a man has sadly died after being involved in a collision on the A127 yesterday morning, Monday 25 April.
The 88-year-old, from Hornchurch, sustained serious injuries as a result of the collision on the A127 at Childerditch, near Brentwood.
Sadly, despite the best efforts of medics, he has died.
His family have been made aware and are being supported.
We were called to the scene shortly after 10.30am yesterday morning.
A road closure was put in place whilst the incident was dealt with. The road remained closed until shortly after 6.30pm yesterday evening.
A man has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and driving whilst unfit through drink or drugs.
He has been released under investigation.
We continue to appeal for anyone who witnessed the incident or has dash cam footage of it to contact us as soon as possible. Please quote incident 329 of Monday 25 April when providing any information.
