UPDATE: 1.30pm Tuesday 8 February
A man has been charged in connection with an incident which took place in Eastwood.
We were called to Rayleigh Road at 1am on Sunday 6 February with reports of a collision involving a car and a pedestrian.
The victim, a man in his 30s, was taken to hospital in a life-threatening condition, where he remains.
Bailey Ling, 31, of Rayleigh Road, Eastwood, has now been charged with GBH with intent and causing serious injury by dangerous driving.
He is due to appear at Southend Magistrates’ Court today, Tuesday 8 February.
We continue to appeal for witnesses to this incident to come forward.
We need anyone who saw anything or has any CCTV, dash cam, or doorbell footage to contact us by clicking here.
We would specifically like to hear from anyone who was driving along Rayleigh Road near to the Oakwood public house at about 1am on Sunday 6 February.

A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after an incident in Eastwood.
A 31-year-old man from Leigh has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. He remains in custody.
