A man has been charged with four offences in connection with a large disturbance in Southend.
During the incident, in College Way on Thursday 20 August 2020, two men were seriously injured.
One of those men, a 40-year-old, later sadly died. We investigated his death and found there to be no third-party involvement and his death forms no part of the current investigation.
The second man sustained life-changing injuries as a result of the incident.
Detectives have now charged Lenny Draper, 27, of Sheepen Road, Colchester, with GBH with intent, affray, possession of an offensive weapon and possession of cannabis.
He is due to appear at Basildon Crown Court on March 24 for a pre-trial preparation hearing.
