A man has been arrested after specialist officers executed a warrant in Chelmsford early this morning, Wednesday 12 January.
Acting on intelligence, officers from our North Disruptor Team carried out the warrant in Broomfield Road, Chelmsford, shortly after 7.30am.
During a search, officers found 144 mature cannabis plants as well about 100 seedlings. The value of the plants is still being ascertained by expert witnesses, but we expect it to be a significant amount.
A 33-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of cultivating cannabis. He remains in custody for questioning.
Sergeant Lee Palmer, who leads the North Disruptor Team, said:
“These are type of jobs my team are working towards and carrying out on a day-to-day basis across the north of the county. “We tackle crime which is causing the highest harm in the county and we make no apology for pursuing the people who we believe responsible for that.”
Sgt Palmer added: “However, our work is bolstered so strongly by your reports of suspicious behaviour, antisocial behaviour and drug dealing. “Although you may not see immediate police activity when you report something, your information feeds into our work and I can assure you we will always listen to your reports.”
The North Disruptor Team targets drug crime, organised crime and antisocial behaviour across the North Local Policing Area including in Chelmsford, Colchester, Clacton, Braintree, Witham, Maldon, Harwich and Halstead.
