We’re very proud of PC Emily Cross, from our Harlow Town Centre Team, who’s been shortlisted for a Heart 4 Harlow award.
She works tirelessly to help the homeless community in the town centre and has helped to successfully re-house an number of vulnerable people.
Emily also helps to run Free Cakes 4 Harlow, a charity whose volunteers provide birthday and celebratory cakes for families across the district.
She was nominated in the Civic category because of her dedication to her policing role, in which she works relentlessly to provide the best possible service to victims and to secure justice for them.
“It is very difficult to put into words how amazing Emily is, how lovely she is, how much of a kind compassionate heart she has and the dedication she shows but, what I do know is, the Harlow Town Centre Team and Harlow town centre in general would not be the same without her.”
Emily's nomination
“It was really lovely to be nominated. It came as a surprise.
“I come to work to do my job and I feel the job we do is a privilege. We’re helping people in their darkest times. As a police officer, it’s our job to shine a light during those times and show people the way out.”

We wish Emily and everyone else shortlisted for the Heart 4 Harlow Community Awards on 20 April the best of luck!
Heart 4 Harlow is a registered charity for a group of churches which partner together and with the wider community for the good of Harlow and surrounding villages.
The Heart 4 Harlow Community Awards are intended to further develop a culture of appreciation in Harlow for the people and organisations who make a real difference to everyday life here.
