A man is set to appear in court charged with a series of burglaries across Basildon following a persistent investigation carried out by our detectives.
Detectives with Basildon CID have been investigating incidents where car keys were stolen from homes in the Basildon and Billericay areas, before vehicles were taken from driveways.
On Sunday 8 January, car keys were stolen from the hallway of a home in the Basildon area, before a BMW was taken from outside the property.
The stolen vehicle was recovered the following day after it failed to stop for our officers.
We carried out extensive forensic checks on the vehicle.
Three properties in Billericay, all within walking distance of each other, were targeted in the early hours of Wednesday 15 February, with vehicles taken from outside two of the properties.
All vehicles taken were later recovered.
Officers arrested Callum O’Brien, 29, of Swanstead, Basildon, on Sunday 30 July.
