Officers investigating a report of an aggravated burglary in Colchester made two arrests after responding quickly.
We were called shortly before 10.45pm on Sunday 27 August to reports two males had pushed their way into a house in Charles Pell Road, Colchester.
It was reported the males were armed with knives and had threatened the occupants.
Responding swiftly, our officers were on the scene by 10.55pm and quickly detained two males outside the address.
Officers also seized a bag containing an amount of cannabis.
A 17-year-old boy, from Barking, London, and a 15-year-old boy, from Borehamwood, Hertfordshire, were questioned on suspicion of possession of a Class B drug with intent to supply.
They have been released on bail while our enquiries continue.
Ch/Insp Colin Cox, Colchester district commander, said:
“Although this was clearly a terrifying incident for those targeted, we believe this was an isolated matter and there is no wider threat to residents in the area.
“It is thanks to the good work of our call handlers within the Force Control Room, who were able to keep the caller calm and get the information needed to allow our officers to respond within moments, that we were able to deal with this incident so quickly.
“My teams in Colchester take any incidents of this nature extremely seriously.
“Our proactive work to keep dangerous drugs off the streets and to catch offenders continues.”
