A dispersal order will be put in place in Maldon and parts of Chelmsford following concerns about anti-social behaviour in the area.
The order gives officers the power to disperse people who we suspect may cause issues later on, even if not at the time we encounter them.
It does not prevent residents or visitors being in the area, but allows officers to disperse anyone behaving antisocially and keep members of the public visiting the area safe.
The area, pictured, encompasses most of the Maldon and Danbury parishes and the main river network for the river Chelmer from Chelmsford to Maldon.
It will remain in place from 8am on Friday 25 of August until Sunday 27 August.
Acting Inspector Graham Thomas said:
“We want to prevent any disruption or disorder within the area specified, as we continue our work to keep people in Maldon safe.
“Anti-social behaviour is not low-level offending, and we are all too aware of the impact this offence will have on businesses and residents during the summer months.”
