Officers working at pace to investigate a burglary in Saffron Walden have made an arrest as enquiries continue.
We are continuing to appeal for witnesses or anyone with information following a burglary at an address in Catmere End, Saffron Walden on Wednesday 26 July, which occurred around 3pm.
As part of our investigation, a review of the internal CCTV cameras showed a man smashing the patio door and taking 16-month-old Dachshund, Twiglet.
On Thursday 27 July, Twiglet’s owner was contacted by a member of the public after seeing our appeal for the safe return of the Dachshund.
Thankfully, she was reunited with her owner.
Following work with colleagues in Bedfordshire Police, a 46-year-old man, from Bedfordshire, was arrested on Friday 4 August and questioned on suspicion of burglary.
He remains on police bail for this matter while our investigation continues, but was charged and remanded in custody over unrelated matters.
DS Dan Smith, of Braintree CID, said:
“We continue to work with colleagues in Bedfordshire as we pursue a number of key lines of enquiry in relation to this incident.
“I know there was a significant level of concern and sympathy for the victims of this burglary and our investigation is progressing.
“I would continue to ask anyone who may have relevant information or footage to come forward.”
Anyone with information should contact us as soon as possible.
