A man has been arrested as part of an investigation into a fire which took place in Harlow.
Emergency services were called to North House, in Bush Fair, shortly before 8.40pm last night, Monday 4 December, to reports of a fire in building.
Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire and prevent widespread damage however the building's occupants have been, unfortunately, been displaced.
As a result of speedy enquires, a 37-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of arson. He remains in custody being questioned.
Alongside investigators from Essex County Fire and Rescue Service, the scene is being forensically examined and a specialist electrical contractor will assess the damage to the building’s electrics.
We have spoken to a number of people to obtain their witness accounts and we’re continuing to build a picture of the minutes leading up to, and after, the incident.
We need anyone who witnessed the incident or any suspicious behaviour to get in touch.
