Our officers have made six more arrests as they continue to tackle high harm crimes such as sex, domestic and drugs offences.
Our Operational Support Group (OSG) are a specialist team who support other teams from across the force in carrying out activity which is vital to keep people safe and progress investigations.
This work can include conducting high visibility patrols, making arrest attempts, and carrying out warrants, as well as proactive patrols on our roads.
Yesterday (Friday 15 December), officers from the OSG carried out a warrant in the Basildon district where they recovered cannabis plants and arrested two people on suspicion of cannabis cultivation.
Elsewhere, carrying out proactive arrest attempts they arrested one person on suspicion of rape and two in connection with domestic offences.
They also made a drink driving arrest having stopped a vehicle on the A127 in Basildon.
Detective Chief Inspector Ian Hughes said:
“The work the OSG does is really important to keep the public safe and help other teams progress investigations.
“Through their positive, proactive work, suspects have been brought into custody.
“The team will be out again today, keeping you safe again.”
