Ongar: Two charged over robbery

Two men have been charged in connection with a robbery in Beauchamp Roding last year.

It was reported a man in his 40s had a five-figure sum of cash stolen from him in School Lane on 3 April.

It was also reported those involved were armed and we have been treating the incident as targeted.

Two men were arrested in the days that followed the incident.

Now, 36 year-old Joe Ion, of Knights Way, Brentwood and 24 year-old Jamie Ronan, of Vincent Street, Canning Town have been charged with robbery.

Ion has also been charged with possession of a Class B drug.

They are both due to appear at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court on 24 April.
