Detectives from Southend CID, investigating a serious assault in Westcliff, are appealing for witnesses.
We received several calls at around 1.30am on Saturday 4 February notifying us of a disturbance at Cranley Road.
It was reported that two cars were in collision at the location and that the driver of one of the cars had been dragged out of his car and assaulted.
Officers responded and found the victim, 20s, had been stabbed in the abdomen and struck on the head with a hammer for which he required hospital treatment. The suspects, a large group of 10-15 men, also damaged his car.
Detective Constable Mike Ward, investigating, said: “This was a loud disturbance and would have garnered a lot of attention.
“We’d ask anyone who was in the area at the time and witnessed the assault or has any information about it to contact us.
“No matter how small, we can piece all the information together in an effort to progress our investigation.”
