A man has been charged as part of our investigation into an incident which saw two people threatened in their home.
We were called to an address in Hickory Avenue, Colchester, at 11pm on Friday 21 July, to reports of break-in at a home.
During the incident, violent threats were made to a man and a woman.
Thankfully, neither were injured but were understandably shaken by the incident.
As a result of a quick response and speedy enquiries, officers were able to identify a person of interest and a man aged in his 30s was arrested early yesterday morning at an address in Tabor Road, Colchester.
We have now received authorisation to charge Jordan Hibbs, 32, of Buckingham Drive, Colchester, with aggravated burglary, possession of a bladed article and possession of a Class B drug.
He is due to appear in Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court tomorrow, Monday 24 July.
Acting Detective Inspector Paul Olney, who is overseeing the investigation, said:
“From the beginning, this has been an extremely fast-paced investigation which has resulted in a really quick arrest.
“Officers have then worked tirelessly to investigate the incident and present their findings to the Crown Prosecution Service and, this afternoon, they were authorised to charge Mr Hibbs.
“Although this is a significant development, the investigation into the incident will very much remain ongoing as we seek to piece together the exact circumstances.”
