A teenager has been charged in connection with a distraction burglary in Harlow.
It follows an incident in Hookfield on 29 June where it was reported someone knocked on an address there.
They told the person living at the address, a woman in her 90s, they wanted to see their garden and they could get flowers for them.
As the occupant went into the garden the suspect went into the address and then back out into the garden before then leaving.
It was only later when the victim realised her purse had been stolen.
A 17 year-old boy from Harlow was arrested on Thursday (6 July).
He has been now charged with burglary and fraud by false representation.
He is due to appear at Southend Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday 11 July.
