Chelmsford: closure order served to house linked to ASB and drugs

We have served a closure order on a house in Chelmsford following reports it was linked to drugs and anti-social behaviour.
We had received reports of anti-social behaviour linked to the property in Wells Crescent.
A 20-year-old man was arrested last month and will appear at court later this month to answer a charge of possession of drugs.
Officers worked closely with the property's landlord, Homegroup Housing Association and CSP, and applied for a closure order at Colchester Magistrates’ Court on Friday 17 February.
It means only the housing association’s staff are allowed to enter the house until midnight on Tuesday 16 May.
Anyone else who breaches the order will commit an offence and faces arrest and prosecution.
The order could be extended for a further three months if considered necessary.

Sergeant Graham Thomas, of the Chelmsford Town Centre Team, said:
“We will do everything we can to target drugs and the related anti-social behaviour.
“I’d like to thank Homegroup Housing Association and CSP for supporting us with obtaining this order and we will continue to work closely with them.
“I’d continue to ask the public to report ASB in the area to report it to us so we can deal with it.”
