Tiptree: Man charged after disturbance

A man is due to appear in court today charged in connection with a disturbance in Tiptree.

We were called to Hutchinson Close shortly before 5pm on Tuesday 16 May following reports of a man in possession of a machete.

Officers put a cordon in place for the safety of the public and subsequently arrested a man and a woman.

Jurrell Archibald, 24, of Hutchinson Close, Tiptree, has been charged with possession of an offensive weapon in a public place and using threatening words or behaviour likely to cause harassment, alarm or distress.

He is due to appear at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court today, Thursday 18 May.

A woman aged in her 40s and from Colchester has been released on bail until July.
