This month, seven drivers received a total of 35 endorsement points on their licences after Extra Eyes received dash cam footage from you, the public.
Thanks to you, the dash cam footage capturing poor and dangerous driving that was uploaded to Extra Eyes resulted in seven drivers sentenced for careless driving at a special traffic hearing at Colchester Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday 15 November.
One driver received nine penalty points for driving on the wrong side of the road, towards oncoming traffic before entering the Rayleigh Weir roundabout, on 11 September and driving the wrong way, against the flow of traffic. The elderly driver also received a £440 fine.
A 27-year-old man pleaded guilty to brake checking - stopping in traffic for no justified reason, then overtaking a vehicle and braking heavily - causing the following vehicle to brake and stop. He was penalised with four penalty points and £216 fines for the offence in Woodgrange Drive, Southend, on 20 August.
The driver of a Focus in Armistice Avenue, Chelmsford, admitted driving without reasonable consideration to other road users on 20 June by overtaking a cyclist too close to be safe, when his car connected with the luggage bag on the cycle, leading to a £40 fine and three penalty points.
The rider of a motorcycle received three penalty points and a £416 fine after he admitted driving on A130, Great Leighs area, without due care and attention when he rode at speed to the off side of a vehicle travelling in lane two, between the vehicle and the barrier that divides the carriageways on 30 July.
All drivers were ordered to pay £110 costs and victim surcharges.
