A teenager has been charged with burglary, possessing a bladed article and possessing a Class B drug in Loughton.
We were called about 3.20pm on Friday 17 November following reports of a burglary at a property in the south of the town. A suspect had forced entry to the property through a window.
Officers arrived at the scene of the burglary in progress within six minutes and a suspect fled the property, throwing away what appeared to be a knife.
After pursuing them through the gardens of neighbouring properties, officers arrested the suspect.
Now, a 17-year-old boy has been charged with burglary, possessing a bladed article and possessing a Class B drug, and is due to appear at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court on Monday 20 November.
Sergeant Anokhi Chouhan said:
“The quick response of our officers was crucial to securing this arrest and charge.
“We hope this sends a clear message that we understand the impact serious crime such as burglary has on victims, and we are committed to protecting the public we police.”
