We are investigating a fatal collision which took place on Canvey Island.
Our officers were called by ambulance service colleagues to the scene, in Harvest Road, shortly after 5.50pm on Friday 27 October.
It was reported a van and an e-scooter had been involved in a collision.
The rider of the e-scooter, a man aged in his 20s, suffered serious injuries and, sadly, later died in hospital.
His family is being supported and our investigation into this incident is ongoing.
A 49-year-old man, from Southend, was arrested and questioned on suspicion of causing serious injury by careless driving.
He has been released on bail while enquiries continue.
We need any witnesses, or anyone with information or dash cam footage which could assist our investigation, to come forward.
